Four technical talks will provide details on the new legislation for the reduction of motor vehicle gas emissions.

SOBRATEMA – the Brazilian Association of Technology for Equipment and Maintenance will promote the Sobratema Workshop 2012 at the Centro de Convenções Rebouças (Rebouças Convention Center) in the city of São Paulo, Brazil on April 24th 2012. This edition of the workshop will debate the application of PROCONVE P7 - the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Air Pollution Control Program emission standard for heavy-duty vehicle engines.
Instituted by Brazil’s CONAMA (National Council on the Environment), the new legislation which went into effect on January 1st establishes that emissions for all new diesel-powered cargo or passenger vehicles shall not exceed 2.0 g/km of oxides of nitrogen (NOx), 0.46 g/km of hydrocarbons, 1.5 g/km of carbon monoxide, and 0.02 g/km particulate matter (PM). As a result, there will be a reduction of 60% in emissions of NOx and 80% in emissions of PM compared to the limits established under the present phase (P5) of the standard which is valid for vehicles manufactured until December 2011. 
In order to provide details on this subject, the Sobratema Workshop 2012 will promote four technical talks by renowned professionals who will present and explain how the PROCONVE P7 has been affecting the various links in the production chain, including manufacturers of engines, exhaust systems, catalytic converters, fuels, transporters and the end user. Among the themes to be covered are: details of the new regulation, the new S50 diesel fuel, engine modifications (technologies) and the impact of PROCONVE P7 on the daily activities of users.
