Sobratema’s Market Intelligence Program provides details from its studies of the Brazilian market with projections for the coming years
A current panorama of the sales of equipment used in the sector of construction and in infrastructure works in Brazil will be charted in two talks that will be presented during the Sobratema Congress, which takes place from May 30th to June 1st at the Centro de Exposições Imigrantes in the city of São Paulo. The two talks will be presented June 1st during M&T Expo 2012 - the most important trade fair in the sector of construction equipment in Latin America - and are part of Sobratema’s Market Intelligence program.
The first talk takes place from 11:00 AM to noon and will be presented jointly by Rubens R. Sawaya PhD - professor of economics at São Paulo’s Catholic University (PUCSP), and journalist Brian Nicholson - consultant to Sobratema. The presentation will introduce the latest edition of the “Sobratema Study of the Brazilian Market for Construction Equipment”. The second presentation, which will be given from 2:00 to 2:30 PM, will focus on the “Sobratema Survey of the Brazilian Equipment Fleet in Activity” with speaker-consultant Brian Nicholson.
The market study examines the present scenario of sales of equipment utilized in the sector of construction and in infrastructure works in Brazil and the Brazilian market in an international context. The survey on the “Brazilian Equipment Fleet in Activity” draws a map of the equipment used in construction throughout the country, indicating its geographical distribution and age.
The goal of Sobratema is to help companies in the sector of parts and services to plan the logistics of their product offerings in a more balanced and rational manner, with information on where the main equipment they intend to serve is in operation. Besides these compilations of data, Sobratema’s Market Intelligence area also disseminates, during the Sobratema Congress, the survey of “Main Investments in Infrastructure in Brazil through 2016”, the “Analysis Report on the Host Cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup” and the SIM Infra: Market Information System - Infrastructure.
Besides the talks and lectures organized by the Sobratema Market Intelligence Program, the Congress will also present talks by another eleven sector organizations, namely: ABIFER – Brazilian Rail Industry Association, ALEC – Brazilian Association of Movable Property Rental Companies, ABENDI – Brazilian Association of Non-Destructive Assays and Inspection, ABRAMAN – Brazilian Maintenance Association, ABCP – Brazilian Portland Cement Association, ABRATT – Brazilian Association of Non-Destructive Technology, ABCIC – Brazilian Association of Industrialized Concrete Construction, CBT – Brazilian Tunnel Committee, DEC – Department of Engineering and Construction, FECAMVENEZ – Venezuela-Brazil Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and SINDIPESA – National Syndicate of Non-Divisible Oversize/Overweight Load Transportation Companies.
ABIFER will give a presentation on the contribution of the railway industry to the mining sector. ALEC will speak about the sales and rental markets. ABENDI will make its presentation on the application of ‘Non-Destructive Assays’ in the industries of heavy construction and mining, while ABRAMAN will cover the qualification of maintenance professionals as a factor of reliability and productivity. ABCP will offer a mini-course on concrete paving. ABCIC will have lectures focused on the main theme of prefabricated concrete structures: hiring, management maintenance and applications. SINDIPESA will tell attendees how crane accidents can be prevented. Lastly, the Venezuela-Brazil Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry will speak about “Venezuela, Infraestructura e “Misión Vivienda”” (Venezuela, Infrastructure and ‘Housing Mission’).
As regards the talks and lectures organized by Sobratema itself, it has been established that the keynote of the presentations will be to debate the constitution, training and qualification of manpower for the sector. The presentations are set for May 31st in the Oiti Auditorium between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Sobratema intends to make four presentations covering the following subjects: people management, leadership development, simulators and training tools, and actions to reduce the deficit of manpower in Brazil. As regards the qualification of personnel, there will be further presentations by Sobratema’s Opus Institute in the Oiti Auditorium on May 30th at 2:00 PM.
Thanks to all these topics, the Sobratema Congress represents a unique opportunity to disseminate information and share experiences with and among the professionals and companies of the sectors of construction and mining.
