M&T Expo 2012: History-making edition of the largest trade show for Construction and Mining in Latin
M&T Expo 2012 - the 8th International Exhibition of Construction Equipment and 6th International Exhibition of Mining Equipment - the largest and most important trade show in the sector - was declared officially opened. Show organizers expect over 45 thousand visitors to 110 thousand square meters of total exhibition with 493 exhibitors, 226 of whom are international.
To welcome participants and visitors to the trade show, the “Meninos do Morumbi" group performed a dance number and sang the Brazilian national anthem. The opening ceremony brought together major organizations of the press, both national and international, and government authorities, such as the Secretary of Housing of the state of Sao Paulo, Silvio França Torres, Army General Joaquim Maia Brandão, and foreign government representatives such as Mr. Normando Herreras Hernandez, Cuban Vice-Minister for Construction.
Sobratema president Afonso Mamede underscored the growth of this year’s edition of the trade fair highlighting one of the show’s strengths, namely technology - innovating with introduction of RFID chips in credentials, an interactive floor plan which allows visitors to plan their visits to the show’s stands, besides the ‘Visit-Meter’ which provides us with real-time information on the number of people at the show and their locations.
According to the São Paulo Secretary of Housing, the total amount to be invested in the State will be around R$ 118 billion (US$ 65.55 Bn) from 2012 to 2015. About R$ 16 billion (US$ 8.88 Bn) of that amount will be applied in segment of transports, especially for the conclusion of the Eastern Beltway (Rodoanel Leste) and in the construction of 90% of Northern Segment, besides the construction of “Ferroanel” (Rail Beltway) in the surrounding metropolitan region. The duplication of the Tamoios Highway is also listed as an important initiative in the roadway sector.
As the promoter of the event, Sobratema is also committed to complying with a series of requirements that attest to the adoption of measures of redress for environmental impacts resulting from M&T Expo 2012. Outstanding among such actions is the collection and proper destination of all the material resulting from the assembly and disassembly of the event. During the five days of the event, there will be a system for sorted collection of the residues/waste produced by visitation, as well as proper destination of such materials.
