Hundreds of Brazilian and international journalists attended the press conference to announce the next Sobratema trade show: Construction Expo - 2nd International Trade Show of Solutions for Construction & Infrastructure which will take place from June 5th to 8th 2013 at the Centro de Exposições Imigrantes in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.

The goal of the show is to serve the entire segment of construction not only in Brazil, but also in all of Latin America, Europe and Asia. Sobratema, president Afonso Mamede announced with enthusiasm and optimism regarding the second edition of Construction Expo, that the event aims to surpass success of its first edition back in 2011, which received over 25,000 visitors. "We're already working to make this fair a success, and there are already exhibitors who want to ensure their space at the fair," he says.

In the setting of economic growth in Brazil, consultant Brian Nicholson presented the data from the Sobratema Surveys: ‘Main Investments in Infrastructure in Brazil through 2016’ and ‘Brazilian Equipment Fleet in Activity’. According to Brian, there will be a 50% growth in sales of heavy construction equipment (the so-called ‘yellow line’) by 2016. He also pointed out the main problems of companies in 2011 which were: a shortage of skilled manpower, delays in construction, tenders, etc. There is an estimate that by 2030 Brazil will have become the world‘s 4th largest economy.

Sobratema vice-president Juan Manuel Altstadt presented the projects of Construction Expo 2013 which will be focused on infrastructure projects and buildings. 14% of Brazil’s GDP is earmarked for the area of construction. And over 12 million workers, investment of R$ 1.5 trillion (US$ 833 billion) by 2016, and 110,000 construction companies are involved in these construction works.

"The country is experiencing a great period of growth and this trade show will present to the countries of Latin American modernity, solutions in paving and concrete, and in construction management so that these countries achieve the same level of growth," says Juan.
