Italy's exports to Brazil totaled some € 78 million (Euro) in 2011, with significant growth of 43% as a result of trade between the two countries. In 2009, the figures were € 25 million. The figures were announced by Giovanni Sacchi, director of ICE (Italian Trade Commission (‘Itália’) - an agency of the Italian Embassy for promotion of trade and exchanges. According to Sacchi, we have seen a significant increase in exports of Italian-made machines for use in the Brazilian construction industry with a record US$ 11 billion last year. "This amount has almost doubled in the last five years and expectations for this year are for an increase of 9% compared to 2010," underscored Sacchi.
The agency director spoke during the announcement of Samoter - the International Triennial Earth-Moving and Building Machinery Exhibition to be held in Verona, Italy, from February 27 to March 2, 2014. Held every three years, Samoter received at its last edition 909 exhibitors from 37 countries and 98,000 specialized visitors. "Our goal is to promote Samoter at M&T Expo 2012 through our partnership with Sobratema, intensifying the interaction between our organizations," said Andrea Batazzi, director of VERONAFIERE - the exhibition organizer.
As Batazzi explained, Samoter 2014 will focus on the theme of sustainability. "Our expectation is to bring a larger number of Brazilians to the event whose previous edition had about 60 participants from Brazil," said the director.
