Competitiveness of construction on display at M&T Expo 2012
Brazil has been gaining prominence in the global marketplace of equipment for the construction of infrastructure. In 2015, along with China and India, the country will account for 60% of the sector’s total demand for equipment.
The data is from the Study of the Brazilian Market for Construction Equipment released by Sobratema – the Brazilian Association of Technology for Equipment and Maintenance – with information provided by Off-Highway Research of London, England; and Abimaq, the Brazilian Machinery Manufacturers’ Association.
Last year, domestic sales of equipment for construction and infrastructure works rose 18% compared with the previous year, reaching more than 84,000 units sold. This year, the market is optimistic, and demand for equipment is expected to grow, according to a survey conducted by Sobratema among business owners in the sector.
This upturn serves as a driver for Brazilian industry to invest, acquire technology and introduce new products. This competitiveness will be demonstrated at M&T Expo 2012 – the 8th International Trade Fair for Construction Equipment and the 6th International Trade Fair for Mining Equipment – the largest and most important trade show for the sector in Latin America, which takes place 29 May – 2 June 2012 at the Centro de Exposições Imigrantes in São Paulo, Brazil.
This year, the trade show will feature four international pavilions and 480 Brazilian and international exhibitors, who will display new products including earthmoving and grading equipment; concrete plants; cranes; equipment for crushing, transportation of rock and earth, rock drilling and paving; in addition to motors, parts and components.
