August 9th 2012 is the date set by Sobratema – the Brazilian Association of Technology for Equipment and Maintenance for the national launch in São Paulo of Construction Expo 2013 – 2nd International Trade Show of Building and Infrastructure Construction to entrepreneurs and professionals of companies linked to the production chain of the construction business.

Sobratema’s objective at this official announcement is to provide details and data on the focused markets to which the trade show caters - a show which will gather, in June 2013, all of the players in the sector’s chain of production to present what’s new in materials, services and equipment, and technological innovations for application in this market. Besides the exhibition, Construction Expo 2013 will also promote a Congress to debate the most relevant issues for this segment of the market.

According to studies commissioned by Sobratema, Brazil should become the world’s fourth largest economy by 2030. For that to happen, the Brazilian government should continue with its policy for stimulation of development. As of April of this year, for instance, the government’s Program for Acceleration of Development (PAC - Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento ) for urban mobility received funding of some R$ 32 billion (US$ 17.78 billion) for investment in cities with populations of over 700 thousand inhabitants. PAC 2 - for large works after 2014 - should receive investments of around R$ 631 billion (US$ 350.56 billion) distributed among the segments of energy, transports, housing, sanitation, “Cidade Melhor” (urban basic social rights improvement program) and “Comunidade Cidadã” (improvement of public services and equipment in low-income communities).
