Sobratema’s International Relations Area was invited and participated in the first Business Forum between Brazilian and Cameroonian business people from various sectors of the nations’ economies at the offices of União Cultural Brasil Estados Unidos in São Paulo. The objective of the event was to develop a closer relationship between the two countries so as to generate new opportunities for partnering between professionals from various areas, especially in the segments of infrastructure, agribusiness, tourism and mining.

The Forum had the participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon to Brazil, Mr. Martin Mbeng, and of the Counselor of the Embassy of Cameroon in Brazil, Mr. Fidéle Wamba. Sobratema was represented by Ms.  Dinah Mazzo, Special Projects Manager.

According to Ms. Arlene Vieira, Director for International Relations at Sobratema, this first contact was very important because there are excellent opportunities for business in the Republic of Cameroon for the Brazilian market and for the association’s members. “There is a demand for partnerships with other countries so that more works come to be implemented in various sectors, mainly in infrastructure, agriculture, mining and tourism,” she explains.

The Republic of Cameroon is considered the financial heart of Africa. Due to its privileged geographical location - in the heart of the African continent - it borders on the countries of Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Central African Republic and Nigeria. The country has a vast potential consumer market made up of 20 million inhabitants.

The next initiative by Sobratema’s international area will be to send a formal letter of invitation to Cameroonian entrepreneurs and business people to participate in Construction Expo 2013. “We intend to bring a delegation of potential buyers from that country to visit the trade show,” reveals Arlene Vieira. The event, scheduled for June of next year at the Centro de Exposições Imigrantes in São Paulo-SP Brazil, will gather all the players in construction business chain.
