Sobratema Guide to Equipment to have version for tablets and smartphones
As of this year, this will be the new name of the Brazilian Yearbook for Construction Equipment
Sobratema – the Brazilian Association of Technology for Equipment and Maintenance will launch the Sobratema Guide to Equipment in versions for tablets and smartphones running iOS and Android. The new versions are being introduced to provide greater mobility in consultation for decision making by executives and business owners in the sector regarding the commercialization, rental and utilization of construction equipment. The ceremony for the launch of the publication will take place November 13th at the Espaço Hakka in São Paulo/SP, Brazil.
The version for mobile devices will provide the same features as the DVD that comes with the printed edition, with the exception of the software application that enables comparisons between equipment of different brands and models. To have access to the Guide on your tablet and smartphone, just download the app from the iTunes store and Google Play as of November 13th.
The Sobratema Guide to Equipment 2012-2014 gathers and organizes information and specifications on domestic and imported equipment, classified and listed according to families of products, and is an indispensable tool for professionals in the sector. For this edition, Sobratema has compiled 1,033 pages worth of information and specs on 1,672 national and imported items of equipment, made by 108 different manufacturers, divided into 35 families of equipment. Compared to the previous edition, there has been an increase of 29% in the total number of machines and 16.7% in the number of companies listed. The three new families that have been added to the Guide were tower cranes, shotcrete pumps and dumpers. This growth in content is attributable to the arrival of new players in Brazil and a greater diversification in the offers of equipment for the area.
According to Sobratema vice-president Paulo Oscar Auler Neto, the Guide is continually updated to provide professionals and business owners in the sector of construction with a tool for consultation that is wide in scope, and that can enable gains in the sector’s efficiency of production through the use of the best equipment for each type of job.
Change of name
The Guide consists of two volumes - the first with equipment for the sector of earthmoving and the second with machines for concreting, paving, and cargo/load handling. Each volume will be updated biennially, which means that the next edition will only bring the area of cargo handling which will, in addition, provide the technical specifications and models of cranes of up to 70 tons. For 2014, the volume on paving, concrete and earthmoving will be launched. “This is will enable an even greater addition to the number of models and brands in each volume,” explains Auler Neto.
In view of that, Sobratema decided to change the name of the publication from the ‘Brazilian Yearbook for Construction Equipment’ to the ‘Sobratema Guide to Equipment’. “Since the volumes will be updated every two years, we have chosen a name that is better suited to this type of publication and its purpose,” Auler Neto evaluates.
On the same date that the Sobratema Guide is to be launched, the association will also present the Sobratema Study of the Brazilian Market for Construction Equipment, with the market’s projections for the next five years and expectations in sales of equipment for the current year.
