Sobratema introduces four new equipment standardization guides

Four new Equipment Standardization Guides are being published by Sobratema - the Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining. The new guides cover: Skid Steers, Wheeled Tractors, Truck- mounted Drill Rigs and Cold Planers. With the introduction of these four guides, the association makes a total of nineteen technical publications available to the market for consultation.

According to the association, this publication concludes the first step in the program for standardization since the main types of machines used at construction job sites are covered by these guides. All of these publications provide information on the norms and standards established by the ‘Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas’ (ABNT - Brazilian Technical Standards Association), the resolutions of the ‘Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente’ (CONAMA - National Council on the Environment), the regulatory norms of the Fundacentro and describe the parameters and criteria that must be verified by the users of such machines.

The four new guides bring together information, both technical and legal, related to the operation and safety of operation of equipment, with photographic illustrations, references and parameters that help to identify non-compliances. The publications further address aspects such as documentation, noise and emissions levels, ergonomics and accesses.

Sobratema’s aim in making these standardization guides available is to contribute toward the dissemination of technical and legal information on the main types of equipment used in the sectors of construction, industrial assembly and mining.

The fifteen other standardization guides that have already been published cover: Articulated Off-road Trucks, Backhoes, Motor graders, Track-type Tractors, Pneumatic Tire Roller Compactors, Wheeled Bucket Loaders, Crawler Excavators, Vibrating Roller Compactors, Rigid-frame Off-road Trucks, Wheeled Cranes, Tower Cranes (Gantries),  Crawler Cranes, Telehandlers, Aerial Work Platforms and Asphalt Paver Finishers.
