Professionals of load hoisting and handling will be certified

Partnership between Abendi and Sobratema will ensure to the market the availability of professionals skilled to develop their work with more safety and productivity

Associação Brasileira de Ensaios Não Destrutivos e Inspeção (Abendi) and Sobratema established a recent partnership to certificate some professionals that are working in the area of load hoisting and handling, in functions such as Rigger, Rigging Supervisor, Signaler and Slinger Signaler.

This partnership will give to the market a sound guarantee that the professional has the skills and training needed to carry out his activities with appropriate levels of quality and safety, in accordance with the patterns established by the regulating standards.

For Antônio Luís Aulicino, Institutional Relations Manager of Abendi, “the certification is a huge differential for the professional since it reinforces his commitment with the established standards of quality and safety and with their enforcement”.  Aulicino continues: “For the contractors, the certification gives competitive advantages in most services rendered due to less reworking, lower insurance costs and lower frequency of events such as damages, equipment and load losses and operators’ absence.”

For Wilson de Mello Jr., director of Instituto Opus, part of Sobratema, the search for professionals in this area is growing and therefore, besides their formation, it is essential to confirm their qualification. “Thus, the process of certification contributes for an appropriate qualification of the professionals and a consequent reduction of accident risks that may cause serious problems to people involved”, highlights him.

“The experience of Sobratema in people training, added to the credibility and acknowledgement of Abendi in the area of certification ensure that each professional will be actually qualified and differentiated for load hoisting and handling works”, completes the director.

The certification of the professionals is scheduled to start in December, 2013, in the Instituto Opus, Sobratema’s training center.

Abendi and Sobratema formed a Certification Council and a Bureau with the participation of specialists, in a way to establish the standards to be followed in the certification process.

Both institutions expect that this partnership may contribute for the maintenance of an international level of quality in professionals’ training.
