M&T Parts and Services will have a special area focused on technology, safety and sustainability

The Trade Show will take place between June 3 and 6, 2014 at the Imigrantes Exhibition & Convention Center, in the city of São Paulo.

M&T Parts & Services will have a special area focused on technology, safety and sustainability. This unique action was disclosed by Afonso Mamede, president of Sobratema, during an event that took place on January 22—gathering more than 160 professionals and businessmen of construction and mining industry—to discuss the future and the competitive differentials of aftersales and equipment management.

The Hall of Technology, Safety and Sustainability has the purpose of allow the visitors to know what is being carried out by these industries in terms of innovation, in a way to improve in several ways their experience and improvement of cost-benefit relationship for equipment users. To achieve its objectives, this exclusive area will gather in a sole place the innovative concepts of machine and part manufacturers that are participating of the Trade Show. This will be a unique opportunity to present trends and to highlight the competitive differentials of each brand.

The event was opened by Hugo Ribas Branco, Sobratema’s Executive Director of Trade Shows that—after giving thanks for the presence of invited people—informed that the association safely foresees the success of M&T Parts and Services, since it has already sold and/or booked more than 13,000 sq.mt. The Trade Show will take place between June 3 and 6, 2014, at the Imigrantes Exhibition & Convention Center, in the city of São Paulo.

Immediately after, Yoshio Kawakami—consulting engineer of Raiz Consultoria—made a lecture about the importance  of aftersales service for industry competitiveness and  about the trends of this area of the industry. “The hard (structural) part is more balanced among the main brands. Therefore, the soft (support to the client and technology) part is increasing its value and becoming an important differential for the manufacturer”, explained him.

To study the trends of this area of the industry, Kawakami pointed out the concept of IVHM (Integrated Vehicle Health Management), an innovation that brings several benefits such as enlargement of  life cycle of healthy products, development of more accurate diagnoses and prognoses,  anticipation of failures, better preparation and time reduction of maintenance activities and improvement potential  of product reliability. This last benefit is one of the most important, since—according to Kawakami—“the flat stretch of equipment quality and reliability is being held steady, with no significant progress”.

The second speech was presented by Elson Rangel—leader of People and Organization (P&O) area of Construtora Norberto Odebrecht (CNO)—that has spoken about equipment management in construction and mining and brought examples of technologies used by CNO in these areas. “In terms of innovation, we have three lines of research: people, processes and equipment”, said him.

Among the technologies used by Odebrecht for equipment management, there are monitoring systems and solutions for  machine control. In the area of processes, measurement  of operating  QoS (quality of service), totems and automation systems. For persons, Rangel highlighted several applications used to ensure operating safety, professional development and  environmental preservation, including breathalysers—used in Angola to measure the alcoholic level of equipment operators—,  indicator of lifted bucket, E-learning portal, people and object detection sensors, simulators, anti-collision systems for tower cranes (used in Venezuela) and environmental solutions such as lamp crushers and part washers.
