A Company with a fleet with 100 pieces of equipment achieves annual savings of almost R$ 500 thousand, thanks to an efficient main

Instituto Opus promoted a seminar during the M&T Parts and Services Congress to discuss productivity, management and labor

The good maintenance costs management of a fleet of machines and other pieces of equipment for construction can represent meaningful savings on a company’s costs. The actual example of a company with a fleet of 97 pieces of equipment, with a good management policy, resulted in annual savings of R$ 477 thousand, just considering the expenses with fuels, lubricant, repairs and tires. The event was reported by the consultant Ângelo Domingos Banchi in a speech given during Instituto Opus Seminar about results optimization by the productive management of equipment and qualified labor, during the M&T Parts and Services Congress.

According to Banchi, such savings are only possible if the company managers have a good organization of all documents referring to the fleet, a complete and detailed description of the equipment, if they can change the employees’ habits, obtain a competent measurement of the figures and the determination of goals, besides a good planning of their activities. “Some companies reach such a high sophistication level in the maintenance that includes a report of the equipment idle times for maintenance”, says Banchi, adding that, with this way, they can use their machine shops in a rational way, as well.

Antonio Luis Aulicino, Corporate Relations director of Abendi - Associação Brasileira de Ensaios Não Destrutivos e Inspeção, mentioned the importance of certification for both the professionals and the companies. According to him, the certification increases the employment chances and guarantees the professional differentiation. For the companies, on the other hand, the certification assures that the safety rules will be observed, it reduces the number of accident leaves, as well as the loss of equipment and loads, and the rework. Furthermore, it qualifies the labor and increases the productivity.

Edivaldo Freitas, a professional with background in the training area of Odebrecht explained the companies’ organizational culture, with a special focus on people development. According to him, the main challenges for the professionals’ development are: the technical capacitation programs that are offered by the market, the truck operators formation programs, the information about pieces of equipment and new technologies that are still retained in the dealers’ network; the training of operators for the yellow line, which is still an informal one.

“It is necessary to form and capacitate enough labor to work with all kinds of equipment, besides obtaining operators’ capacitation programs that are effective in dynamic environments”, says Freitas. He also pointed out the importance of simulators and the remote teaching for the professional’s formation and capacitation, which reduces in 20% the professional formation time and the CO2 emission, and reduces en 75% the machine actual utilization time.
