Sobratema enlarges its action in the area of professional qualification

Wilson de Mello Jr.is the new director of Certification and Human Development

Paying attention to the changes that are occurring in the market of construction and mining  equipment during the last years—that are demanding more and more qualified labor—Sobratema (Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining) enlarged its technical actuation in this area developing together with Abendi (Brazilian Association of Non-destructive Tests and Inspection) the Third-part Certification based on ISO 17024 standard, that deals with the certification of professionals.

Initially this partnership—focused in the area of construction—developed the Third-part Certification for the area of load lifting and handling in the functions: rigger, rigging supervisor and lasher signalman. In July this certification will also be available for operators of cranes, tower cranes, articulated cranes, overhead travelling cranes and gantry cranes. This set of functions will be followed by operators of yellow-line equipment.

For this reason, Wilson de Mello Jr. became Director of Certification and Human Development of Sobratema, what includes also the activities of professional training. “Our first concerns were about training. Now we are passing to another phase, enlarging our work to the “Third-part Certification” of operators, in a way to ensure a high quality level in their professional qualification”, explains him.

“Another step of the partnership includes the training of instructors that will be multipliers of knowledge and will ensure that the certified training centers may prepare the professionals to be certified”, ends Mello Jr.
