M&T Magazine celebrates 25 years following the evolution of the Brazilian market of construction and mining equipment

Anniversary edition tells the successful path of the magazine

 In September, M&T – Maintenance and Technology Magazine is celebrating 25 years of publication. Since 1989, the magazine—published by Sobratema (Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining)—is following the development of the Brazilian market of construction and mining equipment.

The magazine was the first publication turned to the industry and was created with the purpose of reinforce the communication actions of the entity and to spread relevant and technical information—as well as technology knowledge—to businessmen, engineers and professionals of the area. The first edition had 24 pages and 12 advertisers. “It was a pioneer program in the sense of reinforcing the three-pillar concept of Sobratema, that includes interchange of information, technologic know-how and networking”, says Afonso Mamede, president of the Association.

During 18 years M&T was issued bimonthly, becoming monthly in 2007, in its edition number 99. In addition to regular editions, the magazine delivers special editions to the market.

Along these 25 years, the magazine passed by important editorial and graphic evolutions. “To follow the development of the equipment market, M&T created new sections and enlarged its scope of press coverage”, explains Paulo Oscar Auler Neto, vice-president of Sobratema and member of its Editorial Board.

Currently the magazine has fixed sections such as The History of Machines, Compacts & Tools, Maintenance, Interview and Column of Yoshio, in addition to comprehensive articles about several subjects related to the industry, including location, training, diagnosis, management, technology, new products, market, among others.

This month, the magazine is publishing its edition 183 with 120 pages and a special report about the magazine history, which will contain testimonies of executives of the area and will detail the last survey carried out with its readers, which contributed to the design of its last editorial and graphic change.

According to Auler Neto, one of the new features brought by the magazine’s birthday was the digitalization of all editions. “Since it was the first publication in this area, we had a lot of requests to make available the complete collection, where the history of the industry is consolidated. At the same time it is a reference for the professionals that work in the area”, explains him. This process was already started and the first 30 editions will be available before the end of this year.

Another new feature is the insert of a new section about foreign trade, written by specialists of the area that will talk about the international market and the importance of machine exportation. “It is a demand of our readers, since Brazil is increasing its importance in the world equipment business with the entrance of new players and foreign manufacturers interested to produce in the country”, says Auler Neto.

In addition to printed and digital editions, M&T magazine may be accessed by tablets and smartphones. Each edition has an average of 13 thousand published copies, audited by IVC – Instituto Verificador de Circulação.
