Last November 18, Sobratema – Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining carried out a press conference transmitted through Internet, to spread information about M&T EXPO 2015 – 9th International Trade Show and Congress of Mining Equipment.
More than 80 journalists of Northern, Northeastern, Southern and Southeastern regions of Brazil and of ten foreign countries (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, United States, Peru, Portugal, Uruguay and Venezuela), besides representatives of exhibiting companies and of entities that support the trade show took part in the webinar. The total recorded was of 99 visitations and 270 pageviews.
The event was divided in two phases, to ensure that information could reach most possible countries taking into account the local and international time zones. The first part was developed in Portuguese to attend press media from Brazil and Portugal, the representatives of the exhibitors and the entities. The second part was developed in Spanish, for journalists of Latin America and Spain. “It was a well-succeeded strategy, since we had a high level of participation and questions at the end of each phase”, says Afonso Mamede, president of Sobratema. Adding both phases, more than 40 questions about M&T EXPO 2015 and about the market of construction and mining equipment were received.
Details about the trade show were presented by Mamede (in Portuguese) and by Jonny Altstadt, vice-president of Sobratema (in Spanish). The conference about the M&T EXPO Congress was given by Márcia Boscarato, director of communication and marketing of Sobratema. Vagner Barbosa, director of Soma&Tortella, detailed the strategies of communication of the edition 2015 of the event and Enio Campoi, director of Mecânica de Comunicação, gave more information about press media actions, activities of the Exhibitors’ Pool and the program of M&T EXPO Media Partners.
Altstadt highlighted the celebration of 20 years of the Trade Show in 2015. “Along these two decades we could follow the relevance of the Trade Show for the industry. It will be a very important moment for the market and for our entity. Currently it is one of the largest exhibitions of the whole world and by this reason it is in the world calendar of trade shows”, emphasized him. “It will be a huge celebration”, added him.
For him, M&T EXPO followed the evolution of the equipment market during the last years. “The Trade Show is growing practically in the same proportion of the industry”, said Altstadt. According to the Sobratema Study of Construction Equipment Market, machine sales in the area increased 8.1 percent per year between 2007 and 2014, reaching 10.3 percent in the yellow line.
Afonso Mamede, president of Sobratema, reinforced the words of Altstadt, emphasizing that the industry almost doubled the quantity of equipment from 2007 to 2014, going from more than 34500 units to more than 67700 units. In the yellow line, the increase was higher, from 11700 to 29100 machines. “We are confident for 2015 because there is a lot of works to be carried out in the country. The area of infrastructure is still incipient and may be developed much more”, said him. “This condition has reflects in the M&T EXPO, that needs a larger space to attend the needs of the exhibitors. It is being a factor of impulse in the market. In 2009—at the top of the world crisis and with the market stopped at its start—the trade show was a water divider. Till that edition of the trade show was carried out, exhibitors were quite concerned and the industry was going through difficulties. But during the five days of the event, expectations were reversed and businesses reached an important level”, complemented him.
Still talking about 2015, Mamede considered that the expectation is of retaking, mainly in the second half. “We have the concessions, the development of works and the public-private partnerships of Federal and State governments that have to generate investments. An example is the interest of international groups in Brazilian concessions and infrastructure works”, explained him. About the investments of the Ministry of Agrarian Development—buying construction equipment—Sobratema’s president said that this is a punctual program but new orders were already carried out. “Orders of motor graders, loaders and possibly excavators, among others, will be issued. This program is being important and contributes for the equipment market”, ends him.Av. Francisco Matarazzo, 404 Cj. 701/703 Água Branca - CEP 05001-000 São Paulo/SP
