Subjects related to the increase of productivity in the construction industry will be discussed in the Sobratema Workshop 2015

The event—to be carried out in April 8—will deal with subjects related to management, innovation, labor and mechanization

Construction market had significant changes in the last years. With the increase in the number of infrastructure works and projects of commercial, industrial and logistic buildings, the requirements for a more sustainable construction, with less operating costs, shorter time of development and more productivity and profitability were also increased.

To attend these needs, the contractors and their suppliers developed new methods and technologies for construction equipment, products, processes and materials, in a way to comply with the demands of a new reality. “Most of what is being created is directly related to the increase of productivity, which is one of the key points to achieve higher profitability, lower cost and better operating performance, rising the  competitiveness of the company in national and international market”, states Paulo Oscar Auler Neto, vice-president of Sobratema – Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining.

The Sobratema Workshop 2015—to be carried out in April 8 in São Paulo—will present four different approaches of its main subject,  “Productivity – The Main Challenges of Construction Industry”, in a way to provide technical  and market knowledge for businessmen, managers, engineers, professionals and experts of contractors and suppliers of the construction chain, and to contribute for the use of processes and technologies that increase productivity in infrastructure and building works.

The program will involve lectures about subjects related to management, innovation, mechanization and labor. The first one, presented by Jevandro Barros, CEO of the IOPEX Brasil – Institute for Operational Excellence, will deal with Lean Construction and Operating Excellence. Then, Hugo Marques da Rosa—president of Método Engenharia—will show some real cases of construction methods that leaded to higher productivity in the field.

Marcos Schmidt—Product Manager of the Construction Division of Atlas Copco Brasil—will speak about equipment technologies to be used in the work fronts and in worksite industrialization. And Rüdiger Leutz—CEO of Porsche Consulting—will highlight the importance of professional qualification in the construction and its impact on productivity.

According to Auler Neto, the points that will be discussed in the Sobratema Workshop are fundamental to increase productivity: an efficient management, labor qualification and the use of equipment technologies and innovation in constructive processes. “This will be a unique opportunity to comprehensively discuss subjects that may interfere in the day-to-day of any work”, ends him.
