Paulo Oscar Auler Neto, from Odebrecht, carries out an analysis of the market and of the contribution of the trade show for the industry

Paulo Oscar Auler Neto, Equipment Purchasing Superintendent of Odebrecht and vice-president of Sobratema – Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining, followed the evolution of the trade show in terms of size, installations and quality of exhibitors along these two decades. He was present in the first edition, carried out in 1995 and in all next ones, and considers that M&T EXPO offers the best environment for business development.

The edition of 2015 has more than 95 percent of its area already sold and main manufacturers already confirmed their participation. Estimations are of more than 500 national and international exhibitors and of about 54,000 visitors that will come from the whole Brazil and from foreign countries. Follow the evaluation of Auler Neto about the equipment market and about the expectations of equipment users for M&T EXPO:

What is your evaluation of the equipment market for this year?

Paulo Oscar Auler Neto – The market had many challenges in the beginning of this year, due to the retraction that occurred at the end of 2014 during the elections and also due to the natural inertia of the new cycle of government that is starting, with changes of ministries, new budget and tax guidelines. It will not be an easy year, but we are expecting a retaking in its second half. We have several infrastructure projects that have to be retaken in the areas of power generation, transports, water supply and distribution and others. I hope that the recovery of government credibility will bring the investors back with a positive and direct impact on construction and equipment industry.

In your point of view, how M&T EXPO can be a positive influence for the equipment market?

Paulo Oscar Auler Neto – The trade show is being carried out in a moment that the natural adjustments are already occurring. The market trend will be to start a recovery period, with retaking of works and industry heating. We have a huge expectation for the second half of this year and M&T EXPO is being carried out just at that moment. We had a similar condition in 2009, with slowdown and turbulence in the market. The turning point was the trade show, where several sales were closed. It is still remembered today as a milestone in the equipment market. I think that M&T EXPO will be an important place for industry retaking and the perfect environment to close interesting business deals.

What are your expectations about the trade show? What would you like to find in the M&T EXPO?

Paulo Oscar Auler Neto – I expect to see new technologies in earthmoving and load handling equipment. I will also look for solutions that may bring us improvement of productivity, reduction of costs and mainly safety of people that is working nearby.

What lines of equipment would you like to see in the trade show?

Paulo Oscar Auler Neto – The so-called yellow line is the flagship. In the trade show people may see and compare equipment of a wide range of manufacturers, which will show their best solutions of international technology. I cannot forget also the manufacturers of low-size equipment that are contributing so much in the mechanization of our worksites.

Is there any intention of carry out business deals during M&T EXPO?

Paulo Oscar Auler Neto – I consider that M&T EXPO offers the best environment for  business development since the buyer has conditions to compare in the same place and at the same time all alternatives of equipment for construction and mining. The trade show is also a moment when manufacturers and dealers offer special conditions of price and form of payment. In other words, it is an excellent opportunity for who is selling and for who is buying.

How do you evaluate the evolution of the trade show along all these editions, since you were present in most of them?

Paulo Oscar Auler Neto – I was present since the first edition, in 1995 at the Ibirapuera pavilion and I am following the evolution in terms of size, installations and quality of exhibitors. I consider that it is the sole trade show that presents to equipment users the reality of our market.

M&T EXPO 2015 will also have a Congress, to be carried out from June 10 to 12. It will have a comprehensive program including seminars and special events.
