A new meeting of the Work Group (WG) of Regulatory Standards (RS)—that is part of Sobratema Young Core—was carried out in September 10 at the entity headquarters, in São Paulo. The purpose was to debate the best way to contribute with the review of the NR-18, which is being discussed in the CPRs – Comissão Permanente Regional (Permanent Regional Commission) and in the CPN – Comissão Permanente Nacional (Permanent National Commission), formed by representatives of the government, workers and employers.
According to Décio Branco de Mello Filho—coordinator of the WG of RS in the Young Core—and Leandro Moura, the standardization in the industry is very important to ensure safe operation with productivity and efficiency. “That is why the members of the group intend to collaborate with their expertise to bring the maximum amount of information that may contribute to a standard more and more appropriate to the reality and the needs of Brazilian construction”, explained him.
Two paths of work were defined during the meeting, being the first of them the development of a report with suggestions of changes and inclusions in two items of the standard: Machines, Equipment and Tools (18.11) and Training and Qualification (18.5). To do so, the members will work on each sub-item to supply ideas and information about what happens in the day-to-day of users and manufacturers of construction equipment.
The Work Group intends to deliver the report in the meeting of CPR-SP that will occur in October. “We are also working to bring the text to the representatives of the benches that compose the CPN”, commented Mello Filho. “We believe that there are items that may be improved in the NR-18 because there are relevant questions that may be approached in a more comprehensive way”, added him.
The second path of work will be focused in the question of training, since many standards (NR-10, NR-12, NR-18, NR-22, NR-34, NR-35 and others) deal with this specific subject. And in some situations the information may be different from one standard to another. According to the WG Coordinator, the first step will be a survey of all interconnected standards that deal with the subject to give a real vision of the equivalences and differences. “After this phase we will develop an analysis and write a suggestion text at the end”. In addition to Mello Filho (Odebrecht) were present in the meeting: Antonio Miranda (Odebrecht), Bruno Marques (Sobratema), Daniel Rocha (Liebherr), Nonato Silva Farias (Andrade Gutierrez), Rainer Rostirolla (Queiroz Galvão) and Wilson de Mello Jr. (Sobratema).Av.
