Increase in the market of Soil Compaction Resulted in the Arrival of new manufacturers in Brazil

Sobratema event will have a panel to discuss technologies of soil compaction

The Brazilian market of soil compaction has grown in a strong way till 2013, bringing good results for the manufacturers of equipment directed to this area. Due to these reasons, two important movements occurred during this interval in the industry: the income of new players in Brazil and the increase in the quantity and variety of models to attend the demand of infrastructure works.

Luiz Barreto, business development manager of XCMG Brazil for Latin America says that—in spite of the market evolution with the inclusion of new lines of equipment—in terms of technology, Brazil is still a little behind other countries.

“One of the main technologies demanded by the market that is being offered in China, for example, is the mapping of the area to be compacted through GPS, which informs the specifications needed for each section even before operation starts”, says Barreto. “This type of device helps the user to select the equipment that better fits job necessities and also contributes for the selection of the most assertive methodology to use the machine”, adds him.

According to Barreto, the main trend of the industry is the standardization of equipment and technology offered. “In addition, manufacturers will concentrate in machines produced in Brazil and clients will prefer these equipment mainly due to the devaluation of the real in front of the dollar and the new taxation of ICMS effective since January, 2016”, thinks the executive, that will be one of the speakers of the Sobratema Workshop, to be carried out in April 6 in São Paulo, whose main subject is “Compaction – Technologies and Concepts”.

This event has an innovative format with two panels that will bring technical information about the following subjects: technologies for soil compaction and technologies for asphalt compaction. Barreto, who will participate of the first panel, points out that there are several factors that influence the process to select the equipment that better fits the operation. The most important is the compatibility between the roller and the type of soil and the physical area where it will be used.

In addition to XCMG Brasil, experts from Atlas Copco, Bomag Marini and Ammann Group will take part in the first panel. For the second panel, professionals of Caterpillar, Hamm (Wirtgen Group) and Volvo Construction Equipment had their presence confirmed.
