“Moving cities” discuss how Brazilian cities may be more sustainable and accessible

To discuss experiences, Sobratema and WRI Brasil Cidades Sustentáveis are promoting a debate between public entities and private companies

It is estimated that approximately two thirds of the population of Earth will live in urban centers till 2050. Considering this expectation, to debate solutions for urban development and mobility that may allow more quality of life for people in the future is becoming more and more urgent.

To contribute to this debate, Sobratema – Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining and WRI Brasil Cidades Sustentáveis will carry on the Seminar Moving Cities in the next June 15 at the São Paulo Expo Exhibition Center, as part of the program of the Construction Summit 2016. The Seminar will include two large panels: Technology and Financing for Infrastructure and Services and Mobility, Acessibility and Urban Development.

According to the director of Strategic Relations of WRI Brasil, Rejane D. Fernandes, these subjects are fundamental for the sustainable development of cities. “The Moving Cities will gather national and international experts and supply a comprehensive view about how cities may become more human and accessible environments. We believe that the reunion of public managers, private initiative and organizations of the civil society is fundamental to build a better future for next generations, with social inclusion and economic growth”, comments him.

The  Seminar Moving Cities will start with the international master lecture Intelligent Cities – Tecnology  at Citizens’ Service, carried out by the director of WRI Turkey, Arzu Tekir. Before being part of WRI team, Arzu carried out several projects of market research in New York and wrote business plans and reports for telecommunication investors and companies that would develop TI projects in Istambul. She also worked as project coordinator of the European Union and was director of External Relations of TI companies.

 

The following presences are also confirmed: Brenda Medeiros, director of mobility of WRI Brasil Cidades Sustentáveis; Gabriel Marão, coordinator of the Comitê Gestor do Fórum Brasileiro de Internet das Coisas; Gilberto Perre, executive secretary of FNP – Frente Nacional de Prefeitos; José Roberto Bernasconi, president of Sinaenco – Sindicato Nacional das Empresas de Arquitetura e Engenharia Consultiva, and Silvana Cambiaghi, architect and representative of the Secretaria Municipal de São Paulo da Pessoa com Deficiência e Mobilidade Reduzida (SMPED) in the Comissão Permanente de Acessibilidade (CPA).

 

Construction Summit

 

In addition to the Seminar Moving Cities, the Construction Summit will also include the Technical  Seminars of Construction, with the participation of important national and international entities of the industries included in the productive chain of construction. The participation of Consultoria NGI – Núcleo de Gestão e Inovação, ITA – Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica, Inovatech Engenharia and Escritório Comercial do Peru no Brasil are also confirmed, in addition to WOC – World of Concrete, which will present concrete technologies used in international key works, showing how the use of material research, studies of contractors’ efficiency and new technologic developments may contribute for construction improvement.

The Construction Summit 2016 will also have an area for exhibitions that will bring technical and specialized content about both main themes of the seminars. Highlight for Mostra VivaCidade, Exposição Cidades em Movimento, Mostra Light Steel Frame, Encontro das Start-ups da Construção, Mostra da Sustentabilidade and Mostra Produtividade e Industrialização.
