Instituto Opus carried out training course for contractor’s riggers

TRAINING GIVES TO THE PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE NEEDED TO PLAN SUCH OPERATIONS

A group of 12 engineers of the contractor Andrade Gutierrez took part in a 40-hour training course of rigging, carried out in its headquarters by the Instituto Opus between June 9 and 16.

The content covered topics such as types, models, applications and technology of the cranes used in Brazil; calculations and solutions for load handling; reading and interpretation of load charts; main factors to be considered in operations involving more than one crane; and development of a rigging plan.

The course gives to the professional the information and knowledge necessary to plan the operation, select the equipment and define the lashing to be used and its positioning, among other subjects. “Qualification is essential for the professional, who has to be prepared to develop his functions appropriately”, said Wilson de Mello Jr., director of Certification and Human Development from Sobratema.

In addition to in-company courses, the Instituto Opus carries out courses in its headquarters located in São Paulo. Its complete program may be accessed in http://www.sobratema.org.br/Opus/Agenda
