BW Expo 2017 will present solutions for water quality monitoring

Brazil has a huge hydric potential. It contains a significant part of the resources of the planet—corresponding to 12 percent of its whole freshwater—distributed by 200,000 micro-basins spread along 12 hydrographic regions, such as the basins of São Francisco and Parana Rivers and the Amazon River, world’s largest basin. Considering the per capita distribution, the water average flow in Brazil is approximately 33,000 cu.mt. per inhabitant, 19 times above the minimum level established by the United Nations, of 1700 cu.mt. per inhabitant per year.

The importance of this natural resource for people welfare, health and life leaded to the publication of the Act 9433—more known as Water Act—twenty years ago. This act created the National Policy of Hydric Resources (PNRH) and the National System of Management of Hydric Resources (Singreh), changing the way that hydric resources were seen and putting them as priority in national public policies.

Usually, one of the instruments used for an efficient hydric management is the classification of the water bodies in main-use classes, what demands monitoring of water quality. This includes laboratory and eco-toxicological tests that supply assertive information about sample toxicity, checking the combined effects of the different organisms present in the water.

Acqua Consulting, specialized biomonitoring company offers laboratory services and technical support for operational control of Sewage Treatment Plants (ETEs) with the purpose of increase treatment efficiency and reduce input and energy costs. “Using our services, the industry may identify how much its effluents are impacting the receiving bodies and then carry out measures directed to minimize these impacts”, says Ana Luiza Fávaro, technical director of the company, which will participate of the BW Expo 2017 – Trade Show of Services and Technologies for Sustainable Management of Waste Materials, Water, Air and Energy. This event will be carried out from June 7 to 9 in the São Paulo Expo, during the Week of Integrated Technologies for Construction, Environment and Equipment.

Using specific technologies to evaluate the cause of toxicity of domestic and industrial effluents and proposing solutions to reduce or even to eliminate this toxicity, Acqua Consulting also makes available a service that allows the industry to match the conditions and standards of effluent liberation, such as the resolution (SMA) 03/2000 of the Secretariat of Environment and/or the art. 18 of the resolution 430/11 of the National Council of Environment (CONAMA). “Our important differential is the TIE (Toxicity Identification Evaluation) study, which allows us to identify which substance of an industrial effluent is causing toxicity”, explains her.

Being the sole event that includes the four  macro-vectors connected to environmental sustainability, the BW Expo will also present news in water management area, including membranes, coast protections, flood control, pumps, aerators, separators, piping, fittings and draining systems, as well as products, services and equipment turned to the management of air, energy and waste materials.

The Week of Integrated Technologies for Construction, Environment and Equipment  will also include the Construction Expo 2017 –International Trade Show of Buildings and Infrastructure Works, the M&T Parts and Services 2017 – Trade Show and Congress of Technology and Management of Construction and Mining Equipment, and the Sobratema Summit 2017, the largest event of content in the areas of construction and environment in the Brazilian market.
