Week of Integrated Technologies pointed out the importance of human mobility, environmental sustainability and construction retaki

WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF QUALIFIED PUBLIC, THE EVENT HIGHLIGHTED THE PROGRAM VIVACIDADE AND THE EXHIBITION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES, SOLUTIONS AND PRODUCTS FOR CONSTRUCTION, ENVIRONMENT AND EQUIPMENT

The Week of Integrated Technologies for Construction, Environment and Equipment—carried out between June 7 and 9 at the São Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center—highlighted three relevant subjects for the Brazilian society: human mobility for harmonic coexistence between pedestrians, bicycle riders, handicapped people and vehicles; environmental sustainability as a priority in all activities of the economy; and investments in the construction industry turned to job retaking and to a new cycle of growth.

According to Afonso Mamede, president of the Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining (Sobratema)—creator of the event—Brazil is passing through a quite challenging situation, that demands a lot of commitment and work of the entire production chain to maintain what was conquered.

Including the most important trade shows in the areas of construction, environment and equipment (BW Expo 2017 – Trade Show of Services and Technologies for Sustainable Management of Water, Waste, Air and Energy; Construction Expo 2017 – International Trade Show of Building and Infrastructure Works – Services, Materials and  Equipment; M&T Peças e Serviços 2017 – Trade Show and Congress of Equipment Technology and Management for Construction and Mining) and also the Sobratema Summit 2017the largest event of content of these areas in the country—the Week of Technologies received 122 national and international exhibitors that came from nine countries: Germany, Argentina, Canada, China, Spain, United States, Israel, Peru and United Kingdom and attracted a public of 6882 high-qualified professionals and buyers.

One of the highlights of the Week of Integrated Technologies was the development of the program VivaCidade, carried out through the project Ruas Completas (complete routes) and through the Praça da Acessibilidade (Accessibility Square). In an area of 456 sq.mt., the visitors could walk through an urban clipping, designed and built in accordance with the concepts of universal accessibility to show that a harmonious coexistence between pedestrians, bicycle riders, buses and cars is feasible. This initiative comes from the Sindicato Nacional das Empresas de Arquitetura e Engenharia Consultiva (Sinaenco - National Union of Architecture and Consulting Engineering Companies), in partnership with Sobratema, Frente Nacional dos Prefeitos (FNP – National Front of Mayors) and WRI Brasil.

The street bed was shared by bicycles and cars, with separated bus lanes. The peaceful coexistence between pedestrians, bicycle riders, buses and cars was possible due to the low top speed (40 kph) allowed to the vehicles, the large-scale signaling and other elements of design such as lighting focused to sidewalks and pedestrians, and special floors to guide visually impaired people. The street is drained through bio-trenches, also called “Rain Gardens”, a seedbed that allows the flow of rainwater. On the sides, set-designed facades replicated stores and commercial spaces, all with too much transparency and visibility to allow more mutual safety to pedestrians, shop owners and clients. A pleasure square was assembled at the end of the street, with urban equipment that allows the access of handicapped people.

In addition of showing the possibility of building an accessible, sustainable and inclusive route, the Program VivaCidade also brought several activities of content based on subjects related to the projects and also presented wheel-chair basketball and adapted-skate players.

Another activity of content that also was highlighted in the Week of Integrated Technologies was the space ITF Forum (Innovative Technological Forum) for spreading knowledge about innovation, technology, professional qualification, e-learning, on-line platforms, architectural systems, opportunities in the area of cranes, technology for effluent treatment, ISO14001 certification and use of debris in asphalt paving.

Sobratema Summit

The president of Sobratema also highlighted the success of the Sobratema Summit that included 16 activities of content such as seminars, workshops, congresses, forums and round-table discussions, carried out by more than 70 lecturers coming from Brazil and foreign countries (USA and Europe). More than 870 visitors took part in a wide and comprehensive program that leaded to information and debate about subjects related to the areas of infrastructure, human mobility, architecture, compliance, waste treatment, control and management of sewage treatment plants, rental, certification, sustainability, BIM, concrete technology, industrial systems, geosynthetics, waterproofing and distribution, retail sales and consumption of construction materials.

Councilor Police Neto is introduced to the project “Ruas Completas”

Author of several studies about urban subjects, inclusion and mobility—the most recent are the Bicycle Rider and Pedestrian Statute—councilor José Police Neto (PSD-SP) visited the event to know details about the project Ruas Completas (Complete Routes) and was quite interested in the initiative, promising to take it to the executive and legislative authorities of the City of São Paulo. He pointed out that it is simple to carry out and accepted the challenge of installing a project of this nature in front of the City Council, with some adjustments due to the local features. It will work as a reference for places of other neighborhoods of the capital and other cities. He believes that the Mayor of São Paulo, João Doria, will be interested in the project, since he is a defender of the program Calçada Nova (New Sidewalk) that would be part of the project Ruas Completas.

Highlight of the exhibitors: qualified public and prospection of new sales

The exhibitors and participants of the Week of Integrated Technologies were unanimous in highlighting the qualification of the public that passed through the event and the opportunities in getting new markets and new clients, and  in levering future sales.
