Sobratema 2017: A year of many realizations
In spite of the challenges in the economic and politic scenario during 2017, Sobratema worked comprehensively in several contexts to move, help in the recovery and show the strength of the entire Brazilian productive chain in the areas of construction and mining. See below the main activities carried out in 2017:
JANUARY – To promote the “Week of Integrated Technologies for Construction, Environment and Equipment”, Sobratema took part in two important worldwide events in the area of engineering, architecture and construction: World of Concrete, in Las Vegas and BAU, in Munich.
MARCH – During the CONEXPO in Las Vegas, Sobratema announced its association with Messe München (organizer from bauma) for cooperation in promoting its trade shows: M&T Expo, Construction Expo and M&T Peças e Serviços.
APRIL - The Workshop M&T Magazine 2017 brought to the debate New practices of maintenance in the current scenario, three lectures and a debating panel with representatives from areas of construction, mining, rental, transport, sand & gravel (quarries) and load lifting and handling.

APRIL – Signature of the mutual cooperation agreement between Sobratema and the National Front of Mayors (FNP), during the IV Encontro dos Municípios com o Desenvolvimento Sustentável (EMDS – Meeting of Municipalities with the Sustainable Development) in Brasília.
APRIL – Integrating a group of institutions representing the manufacturing, commerce and services that work for the development of the country, Sobratema took part in the mobilization occurred in April to defend reforms to guarantee the future of the country.
JUNE – Looking for spreading knowledge, information, new integrated technologies and showing the strength of the industry, Sobratema carried out the Week of Integrated Technologies for Construction, Environment and Equipment, including BW Expo, Construction Expo and M&T Parts and Services trade shows and the Sobratema Summit 2017.

JULY – The Hourly Cost program was expanded from 163 to 865 models of equipment used in workplaces.
AUGUST – Gathering more than 200 participants including executive and businessmen of construction and infrastructure industry, the first edition of the Fórum Infraestrutura Revista Grandes Construções invited the presswoman Cristiana Lôbo and the economist Ricardo Amorim to talk about the subject The Role of Infrastructure in the Retaking of Brazilian Growth.
OCTOBER - The Instituto Opus de Capacitação Profissional received the accreditation of Abendi – Associação Brasileira de Ensaios Não Destrutivos e Inspeção as a training provider for qualification in load handling. Several courses were carried out along the year, such as Asset Management, Rigger, Rigging Supervisor and others.
OCTOBER – Start of the Cultural Contest 30 years of Sobratema, to select a slogan representing Sobratema and a commemorative seal for the celebrations of its 30th anniversary that will occur in 2018.
NOVEMBER – Reference in the industry, the strategic event Trends in the Construction Market brought the pressman and economist Luís Artur Nogueira to supply technical information about economy and politics for more than 300 professionals and businessmen of the productive chain.
NOVEMBER – the new edition of the Sobratema Study of Brazilian Market of Construction Equipment was presented by the pressman and economist Brian Nicholson during the event Trends in the Construction Market.
NOVEMBER – The Young Core from Sobratema promoted a series of meetings along 2017 to encourage activities that could contribute for the development of the industry. One of the initiatives was the Aftersales Highlight, which awarded three brands in each of the following categories: earthmoving equipment, drilling equipment, load and people handling equipment and concrete equipment.
PUBLICATIONS – Due to their importance in their areas of operation, both magazines published by Sobratema—M&T and Grandes Construções—were acknowledged once more by the market. In July, the Editor of M&T, Marcelo Januário, was awarded with honorable mention in the category Construction of the 24th CNH Industrial Award of Economic Journalism. In November, the editor of Grandes Construções, Paulo Espírito Santo, received by the third consecutive time the Prêmio Especialistas in the category of Capital Goods.
